Cupcake Theme Decoration Ideas for a Perfect Pinkalicious Party

Although cupcakes are popular among all generations, kids have a special affair with these delicious desserts. They are slowly replacing the large expensive cakes for birthdays, weddings, and on many other occasions. Health concern mommies are more often choosing them for kids because they have less calories and a very small amount of fat. Helen was one of them who always encouraged her daughter Jessica to have cupcakes instead of other fatty options. She even decided to host a cupcake theme party for Jessica’s birthday but we couldn’t get simple cupcake supplies. I suggested her to take up Pinkalicious birthday theme, as the products would be featuring cupcakes. Here is how we decorated the venue to look like a cupcake workshop.

  • We hung a large cupcake shaped piñata at the entry door to lure the little cupcake lovers. The door had a signboard stating ‘Welcome to Jessica’s cupcake factory’. I could see the giggles when the girls read the signboard. To keep up with the expectations of the guests, we had done a tempting decoration indoor.
  • We hung a lot of cupcake cutouts from the ceiling using curling ribbons.
  • Instead of the Pinkalicious themed store-bought party hats, Helen made her own hats at home using pink colored card stock and pasted a large sized cupcake sticker on each of them.
  • The party table was the center of attraction and needed special attention. We bought brown table cover that matched with the color of the batter and had Pinkalicious themed tableware to look like pink frosting. For centerpieces, Helen made some pink tissue pompoms and fixed them to a glass plate. On the top of pompoms she fixed some cherries to make them look like cupcakes.
  • Helen bought some pink bags and cut them in the shape of cupcakes. She also attached a pink ribbon on the top so that the kids can easily grab them. She placed these bags on the shelves of the party area so that they look like decoration pieces. Nobody guessed that these are favor bags until she asked the little cupcake lovers to pick one for themselves.
I will be sharing more Pinkalicious party ideas in my upcoming blogs. Feel free to use any of these ideas if you like them and do share with me the pictures of your celebrations at mybirthdaysupplies@gmail.com so that I can use them here.

Confused With Birthday Themes? Go for a Colorful Party

The craze of hosting theme parties has dominated the globe so much that every party these days is hosted on a specific theme be it a character, an event, animals, celebrities, or even an issue. To keep themselves up with the trend, many people take unnecessary stress of hosting a theme party.
Daniel (name changed on request) is one such person whom I met a few weeks back. He approached me to plan his daughter Nancy’s first birthday. Since Nancy’s mother passed away a week after she was born, Daniel have been both a father and mother to her. Like any other parent, he wanted to host an extraordinary party but wasn’t sure which Birthday Party Theme to take up. Nancy was too small to have a say and Daniel had little understanding of the girl’s themes and choices.
I grabbed this opportunity and shared my favorite idea of hosting a colorful party instead of choosing any individual character party. Initially, Daniel was little reluctant but when I showed him the pictures of the previous colorful parties that I had organized, he gave his nod. I got so much emotionally involved with Nancy that I started planning her party as if it’s my own daughter’s party. At many points, I even ignored Daniel’s opinions that I felt were not better than mines.
For making the invitations, we took poster size white card stocks and spray painted them with various colors. At the center of the card, we pasted Nancy’s picture and on the reverse side we wrote the party details. We followed the same painting procedure for making the envelopes.
The decorations were simple. We used a lot of solid color latex balloons of various colors such as red, green, blue, yellow, pink, etc. along with some happy birthday printed balloons, and number 1 shaped Mylar balloons. The other birthday supplies that we used were crepe paper rolls, confetti, happy birthday banner, etc. For the party table, we used a sunshine yellow colored table cover, ruby red colored cutlery, royal blue colored plates, and forest green colored napkins. The party table was looking vibrant and got a lot of appreciation.

Most of the guests were girls between 3-5 years and therefore, we decided to give them faux jewelry. For the two boys, we had spin tops and squirt guns. The favor bags also had lots of colorful candies and mints.
The birthday party ideas were admired by many moms and therefore, Daniel was happy with the way the party was planned. Some of the character theme crazy moms realized that a colorful party can actually be one of the best themes for kid’s birthdays.

Dora Birthday Party: The Invitations that Will Excite the Invitees to Start Their Adventure

Invitations are a very crucial part of any party. Your invite will set the expectations of the guests and therefore, needs a special attention. An ideal invitation should match with the theme of the party, thereby reflecting your plans. For your kid’s Dora party, here are some ideas for making the invites.

Store-bought invites:
If you are hard-pressed with time or do not want to take the stress of designing the invites, the store-bought ones are always there for your rescue. Dora is a famous character and therefore, Dora birthday party supplies including the invites are available with almost all party supplies stores. These invitations are pretty good and will fulfill your needs.

Map-Style Invitations:
They are an excellent fit for this adventurous theme. The character Dora is always on an exploration and uses maps to locate places and get directions. If you have some knowledge of designing, you can make your own map-styled invitation in your PC or else just use a brown cardstock to take print out of a map of your city or many be region. On the reverse side of it, draw a small portion of the map that specifically gives the details of your neighborhood along with your party details. Roll them up into tubes, tie a purple ribbon, and hand-deliver them.

A Spanish pocket dictionary invite:
Every Dora fan knows the importance of a Spanish dictionary and would be extremely delighted to receive one. Write your party details on the first page of the invite and giftwrap it. Although this will be an expensive invite, you will realize its significance when you will see the kids using Spanish at your party. To compensate, you may cut down your party favor budget.

Dora the Explorer CD
Make a CD of a few episodes of Dora that you think the kids would have missed due to their exams or any other reason. Spray paint a paper CD cover with purple paint and allow it to dry. After the paint has dried, write your party details on it using a black marker pen and insert the CD into the cover and voila! Your invite is ready.

Spiderman Party Favors That Will Give a Perfect End to Your Web-Slinging Party

Perhaps the scariest part of organizing a party is deciding upon the favors. You want to give away something unique and attractive but after spending so much on the party, you will never have a good budget for buying them. I have seen people keeping a dedicated budget for the favors; however, they always cut it short later on, due to overspending in other essentials. Such situations are unavoidable and the best way to handle them is to buy favors that match your budget as well as meet the expectations of your guests. The standard inexpensive items such as masks, blowouts, stickers, etc. have always been a great addition but choosing something else will give you an edge over others. Here are some party favor ideas that can fit in your Spidermanbirthday theme party.

Spiderman Comic Book
Let your kids enjoy your party hangover by reading a book on their favorite superhero. The parents would love this idea, as most of them want to avoid the same old stuffs that the kids get at almost all birthdays. This educational and entertaining favor would get a lot of appreciation. To make your guests feel valued, include a thank you note inside the book or buy customizable bookmarks, write your thank you message on it, and put it in the favor bag.

A can of Silly strings
Even though you don’t want a mess, kids are fond playing with silly string, making it too difficult to resist. This inexpensive game matches your Spiderman party theme and therefore, is a good choice. While including the can in your favor bags, attach a tag to it mentioning the famous Spiderman statement ‘great power comes with great responsibility’ along with a request to use it carefully so that they don’t mistakenly direct it in someone’s eye.

Water bottles and Sippy cups
The little heroes get thirsty after a lot of adventure. They have to run around the house, study hard and play till exhausted. To keep them hydrated, give them Spiderman theme water bottles. For toddlers, you can buy the Sippy cups. Since Spiderman is a very popular character, you will easily get these Spidermanparty supplies at any nearby store. If you don’t find them easily, buy the solid colored ones in blue. Spray paint some portion of these blue cups and bottle with black color to make it match the theme. Paste a Spiderman sticker after the paint dries and yippee, your Spiderman party favor is ready. The sticker won’t last long but the color combination will still be there to remind the supermen about the fun time they had at your party.
You can also consider the Spiderman theme school supplies but I guess most kids have them. If you like these ideas, keep reading this blog for more interesting spiderman birthday ideas

How to Do Some Spidery Decorations for a Spiderman Birthday Theme Party

You rarely hear someone praising his/her rival openly, in front of everyone. Here, in this post, I am discussing about a cobweb wall idea that my competitor Alan had used for planning a Spiderman birthday theme party. I really appreciate this but feel that it can be polished slightly to add real Spiderman fun to the party. Here are some ideas that you can use if you are planning a party on this superhero theme.

  • The party that Alan planned, had a cobweb wall. When the kids entered the party area, they were surprised to see a whole wall covered with spider web. This huge web was made of black wool. The cotton balls, artificial snow sprays, and the plastic spiders, gave it a realistic look. Alan was so creative that he actually made his client tore the web from one corner so that it looks natural.
  • I would suggest that if you are using this idea, do not leave the wall blank. Rather, use a butcher paper to create a city scene and paste it on the wall. When done, it will look as if the entire city is covered by the cobweb.
  • You can also place a large cutout of Spiderman near the wall and connect the wool (that you will use to weave the web) to the center of the palm so that it will make the guests feel as if Spiderman wove it.
  • Instead of the city scene, you can paste the images of the Spiderman villains such as the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, the Sandman, the Venom, etc. on the wall and cover them with cobweb. Place the Spiderman cutout as mentioned above to create a scene that depicts that the superhero is fighting with all these bad men.
  • Instead of the Spiderman cutout, you can use your child’s paper cutout. Make your little hero wear a Spiderman costume, click his picture, take a large printout of it. Paste it on a cardboard and cut it through the edges of your child’s image to separate the background. Your child’s life-size cutout is ready.
These Spiderman party ideas can give an exciting beginning to your party.

Pinkeriffic Invitation Ideas for Your Daughter’s Pink Party!

The Pinkalicious birthday theme has been very famous among young girls, who love pink, pink, and more of pink. Every little girl dreams of hosting this girly party. In the last 10 years, I have organized more than 60 such parties and have always wondered why girls just love this crazy little character to be the theme of their party. Perhaps, they visualize themselves as Pinkalicious, a girl who loves to relish cupcakes. I have compiled a list of few awesome invitation ideas that will help you to give a good start to your celebrations. I have not included the very common ones such as the store-made invites or the cupcake shaped invites.

A Pinkalicious book cover invitation:
Scan the cover of the book and customize it, if you feel the need. Take few color printouts and write your party details on their reverse side. You can also print your party details instead of handwriting it. If you are short of time and cannot work on anything else, this is an excellent idea for you. Just take your child’s book, scan it, take printouts, and you are done.

Book invites:
Although most of my clients had rejected this idea due to budget issues, they surely appreciated this out-of-the-box Pinkalicious party idea. Some of them used this idea for thanking the guests.

Cupcake invites:
I am not talking about the paper cutouts but the real yummy pink cupcakes. Why not bake some of them at home and pack them in a pink paper box having your birthday message written on it? Hand-deliver them and make the girls go nuts with the thought of having some more yummy cakes at your party. You might feel that this is a good idea for party favors but I would recommend this for invitations. The standard formats have become very expected and common. Let’s bring some change and surprise the guests.

Pinkalicious Balloon Invites:
I have suggested a lot of balloon invitation ideas to my clients and, believe me, everyone liked it, and used it. Buy some Pinkalicious themed latex balloon and inflate them. Write your party details on a pink paper and fold it into a tube shape so that it can be inserted into the balloon along with some confetti. Hand-deliver this and see the girls jumping out of excitement.
If you like these ideas, keep visiting this blog for more suggestions on Pinkalicious party supplies, decoration, party favors, etc.

Hooray! It’s a Mickey Mouse Theme Party

Ever since Daniel returned from his friend Martha’s Minnie party, he was stuck upon the idea of hosting a Mickey Mouse celebration for his young brother Charlie’s 1st birthday. I never wanted this overly commercial theme but since Daniel and all other kids we know love the Mickey Minnie couple, I accepted my son’s request. I cannot share the pictures with you as my camera’s memory card got corrupt but here are the details of how I hosted a party on the Mickey Mouse theme.
  • I kept the invitations simple. I bought some blank invitation cards and printed my son Charlie’s picture with a Mickey Mouse on one half part of it. On the other half, I wrote my invitation message ‘Hey ya everybody! The cute little mouseketeer Charlie is turning one. Please join us to celebrate this occasion’. The party details followed the message.
  • My brother bought a Mickey Mouse air walker that we used for front door decoration as well as for photo prop. He also shared with me some Mickey Mouse Party Ideas that really helped me to plan my party.
  • Since I was completely involved in taking care of Charlie, his dad did the decoration. It was simple but attractive. We used a lot of Mickey Mouse Mylar balloons along with solid balloons of red, black, blue and yellow colors. For the party table, I bought a plain yellow colored plastic over and pasted 2 large sized Mickey stickers on the front corners. I also used a readymade themed happy birthday banner for party table decoration.

  • The Mickey Mouse 1st Birthday Party Supplies that I bought from an online store really helped me to create the party atmosphere we wanted.

  • The food was simple; pizza, burger, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, chocolate drink, and of course, the yummy cupcakes.
  • Since we had invited kids between 1 and 4 years, we used candies, cookies, and bounce balls.
Charlie was not very interested in the celebration but enjoyed seeing so many people in his house. Daniel had more fun than he had on his own birthday and I was delighted to see him so much involved in his brother’s party.
