Of
late the Christmas and New Year parties have become a junk food-fest
serving calorie-laden treats, carbonated drinks, and much more. If
you are hosting a New Year eve party, why not encourage your little
guests to indulge into something healthy such as fruit punch instead
of carbonated drinks and homemade pizzas instead of the ones ordered
from Dominos?
Kids
love pizzas and baking them at home would be a healthier Christmas Party Idea. Instead of buying the prepackaged pizza crust, make this
Christmas Party food at home from whole wheat flour to ensure a
nutritive diet for the kids’ group. Here is how you can make a
whole wheat pizza from scratch.
Ingredients:
- 1 3/4 cups warm water
- 1 tablespoon honey (you can use sugar instead of honey)
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 5 cups whole wheat flour
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons salt
- Pre-packaged pizza sauce
- Mozzarella cheese
- Pizza toppings
- Oregano
Directions:
Take
a bowl of water and sprinkle yeast over it. Allow it to dissolve in
water for 5 minutes.
Pour
the remaining water in a large-sized bowl and add honey / sugar,
salt, yeast mixture, and olive oil into it.
Knead
the dough well for at least 8 to 10 minutes. If you feel the dough
is wet, use some flour till the dough is no longer sticky.
Form
a ball of dough, apply olive oil to it, cover it with a lid, and
allow it to rise in a warm place for at least an hour.
After
an hour, the dough will get doubled in size. Divide it into large
sized balls and roll them into 12 to 14 inch crust.
Preheat
the oven to 425 degree.
Place
the rolled pizza on a large baking sheet dusted with flour and bake
it in the preheated oven for 2 minutes.
On
the half-baked dough, spread the pizza sauce, toppings, and cheese
and bake it till the crust turns crispy and the cheese starts
melting.
Take
the crispy pizza out, spread oregano on it, slice, and serve.
This
holiday season, encourage your kids to make some healthy Christmas
Party food choices and stay away from the fancy extravagant treats.
