Aloha! Are you geared up for hosting a memorable Luau Party this summer? Here are some fun and festive luau party games to add a rush of excitement among kids. So, get started!
1) Hula Hoop Contest- A luau party is incomplete without a hula-hoop. Buy bunch of kid’s size hula-hoops at an economical prize from dollar store. Hand over hula-hoop to kids and challenge each participant for this fun hula-hooping contest. Give away fun prizes for different categories like the one who can go the longest with hula-hoop and may be one who had a craziest hula hoop style.
For prize- Buy a unique golden hula-hoop and decorate it with ribbon and you can also string a golden colored bracelet to it.
2) Coconut Roll- Coconut is symbolic of luau parties, so here is a fun game you can lay with coconut. Draw a small ring in the middle of the yard, hand coconut to participants one by one, and see who can roll the coconut closest to the center of the ring. This game will be best to keep the younger kids entertained.
3) Coconut Bowling- This game is inspired from bowling and will certainly excite kids. Use two empty 2-liter bottles as pins and to add a festive touch, embellish them with floral stickers. Fill empty bottles with sand to weigh them down, so that they do not easily fall when hit. Use coconut instead of a ball and set up a small path to serve as alley. Give each kid at-least 2-3 turns to hit.
4) Tacky Tourist Relay- Gather sets of item representing tourist in Hawaii such as hula skirts, leis, sunglasses, Hawaii shirts, flip-flops, beach hats, fun camera with neck straps. Place these items collectively in one end of your party space and line teams up at the other end. As the name suggests, each person will race as relay style, picking one item at a time and racing back until all items have been collected. After each team has collected all items, any one-team member can dress up as a tacky tourist and this will make for fun photographs. The team that dresses up first in the tourist ensemble clearly wins.
5) Lei Making Competition- You can have either a paper lei making competition or fresh flower lei making competition. You can have either orchids or other fresh flowers. For making neck string, se 90” of string, for ankle or wrist leis use approx 16” of string. Other things you will need are lei needle, and scissors. This task can be lil challenging for kids, should be done in the supervision of adult. Children can explore their creative side and will surely have gala time in this competition.
